farm management

soil management
Healthy soil is critical in promoting the growth of healthy plants.
We conduct regular soil sampling to measure mineral and nutrient
levels in our pasture and cropping paddocks. The pasture soil
undergoes re-mineralisation using a maglime spread which encourages
healthy vegetation. We also use organic fertiliser in the cropping
paddocks to increase soil fertility. The most important aspect
of soil management involves the organisms that live beneath the
surface. An active soil ecology, containing a broad diversity
of organisms, provides the natural nutrients that allow for the
healthiest soil.
weed management
The goats do a marvellous job in helping to manage weeds. They
generally select for the rougher vegetative growth, and they eat
the seeds off the plants which lowers the reproduction rate of
the problem weeds. We physically remove the Bathurst burr, a weed
which can be particularly problematic around the area.
animal care
We focus on maintaining a healthy environment that is conducive
to good health in our animals. That means ensuring good quality
feed, keeping the animals' stress levels low and keeping them
disease free. Healthy pastures, plenty of space to graze and rotational
grazing methods help to maintain an environment which ensures
our animals are happy and healthy.
